Jayne Corso on Creating a Social Media Dashboard

Hi my name is Jayne Corso and I am the Community Manager for AEA. When you are managing multiple social media channels it can be difficult to keep track of posts and messages while still monitoring online conversations for relevant content to share with your followers. Having a strong dashboard is a great resources for keeping everything straight—and my favorite is Hootsuite!

Hootsuite is a social relationship platform that is dedicated to revolutionizing the way you communicate. The platform allows you to manage multiple social sites (up to three for free accounts) and monitor keywords. Here are a few tips for building your dashboard on Hootsuite.

Hootsuite

Hot Tip: Add all your social channels

Hootsuite is compatible with Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, and Foursquare. From this list, you can add all your social media platforms to your dashboard. Each platform will show up on your dashboard as a separate tab. This way all of your posts, likes, and mentioned are organized by platform.

Hot Tip: Customize your dashboard

Using streams, Hootsuite allows you to customize the information you see about each of your social media platforms. Streams allow you to build your dashboard with information that is important to you and your reporting. If you like to monitor mentions, retweets, and followers, you can add these streams to your dashboard and the information will immediate begin populating.

You can also add keywords or hashtags streams to your dashboards. Add evaluation, data visualization, #eval, or #eval16 to monitor online conversations that are taking place on these topics. You can interact with the content, just like you would if you were logged into twitter or Facebook. You can share posts, favorite a tweet, or event retweet content.
