Hi there, readers! I’m Jeremy W. Foutz, principal of STEAM Workgroup, a research and evaluation company in Indianapolis that specializes in working with complexity, cultural arts, and science. But really, I know very little in the scheme of things. For all my reading and listening regarding these (and other) social justice topics, for all my attempts to promote equity and cultural responsiveness, there are many places where I need to “simply” get out of the way, stop taking space, and listen. My thoughts appear on the AEA365 site and/or in your inbox to encourage us to continue the discussions from the MIE TIG Social Justice AEA 365 Week.
Rad Resource:
The MIE TIG Social Justice Committee thought it would be very useful for our planning purposes if we surveyed the readers to learn answers to three questions:
1) Did you find value in the shared topics (at a field and/or personal level)?
2) What topics would you find useful to explore further in a MIE TIG webinar?
3) How do readers of the blog this week and those interested in social justice in evaluation describe their work and themselves?
Essentially, we as a TIG – and perhaps, as an organization – don’t have a clear sense of where the interests and experiences of members fall on the continuum of social justice and evaluation. We’re aware of some of our own biases, and we don’t want to make assumptions about what readers and AEA members want or need. I’ve developed this survey with input from the MIE leadership team, and we plan to share the findings with MIE TIG membership. Please help us learn how to better serve you and the field by taking the brief survey below. If your inbox security blocks the code (bonus points for you!), you can find the link for the survey here.
Hot Tip:
We’ll share findings with you as soon as possible, but please contact us if you have specific questions or comments by email or on Twitter. News will also be posted on the MIE TIG page. We have an active group of leaders, and we want to hear from you. Hearing other voices and valuing those voices are the main ways we can grow in our practice and as a field!
The American Evaluation Association is celebrating Multicultural Issues in Evaluation (MIE) TIG Week. The contributions all this week to aea365 come from our MIE TIG members. Do you have questions, concerns, kudos, or content to extend this aea365 contribution? Please add them in the comments section for this post on the aea365 webpage so that we may enrich our community of practice. Would you like to submit an aea365 Tip? Please send a note of interest to aea365@eval.org. aea365 is sponsored by the American Evaluation Association and provides a Tip-a-Day by and for evaluators.
