Three Trends to Watch for on Facebook in 2019 by Jayne Corso

Hi my name is Jayne Corso and I am the Community Manager for AEA.

I wanted to share a few trends that I think will make an impact on your Facebook experience next year. Facebook will be making a few changes in 2019 that will be visible whether you use the tool for personal connections or for promoting your work.

Hot Tip: Trust and transparency

Privacy and security has been a large social media debate in 2018. In 2019, this debate will continue and you will see more efforts made by Facebook and other social media channels to increase transparency in data collection, sponsored content, and their platforms’ matrix.

Hot Tip: Personalization and enhanced customer service

A quick response time is key on Facebook. 24/7 customer or user support is expected and Facebook will reward you for your diligence. Your Page’s response rate and response time measure how quickly and consistently you manage your Page and respond to messages. If you have a high response rate and fast response time, people who visit your Page will see a “very responsive to messages” badge, which factors into the visibility of your Page.

Hot Tip: Video content is dominant

Live video will reign king on Facebook in 2019. Video has been the most dominant type of content on the platform for a few years, but live videos are a growing trend that can’t be ignored. Their authenticity and real-time delivery make these videos engaging and relevant to Facebook users.

Hot Tip: And 1 from Instagram, Know Your Influencers

Influencers are popular on YouTube and Instagram, but lately the price of an influencer who has millions of followers has climbed sharply. In 2019, you will see more micro-influencers. Micro-influencers have a small but dedicated following that has an interest in a niche topic, product, or service. Companies, organizations, or causes will start searching for micro-influencers to share their latest news and increase reach.

I look to seeing what else 2019 has in store for us. Have a great holiday!
