My name is LaMarcus Bolton, and I am the American Evaluation Association’s Technology Director, as well as a doctoral student in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. Today, I wanted to let you know of a few really good (and free) resources for manipulating files online.
Rad Resource: Have you ever been sent a PDF form that you needed to sign? In such an event, we usually would have to print the form, sign it, and then finally re-scan it. However, with tools like Fill Any PDF, you can easily input your unique electronic signature and save the new file without leaving your web browser.
Rad Resource: What if you needed a little more than PDF filling capabilities? In the event that you needed to edit a file that you only have in PDF format, you can do so quite easily with tools like PDF to Word. While it is not 100% accurate, it handles text conversion and formatting better than most commercial software I’ve seen.
Rad Resource: In case you’re looking for more file conversion options, Comet Docs may be the best bet. Comet Docs offers over 50 online conversions, so it is a lifesaver when a colleague sends you an odd file format that you cannot open. While PDF to Word is more accurate for its specific one-to-one conversion, Comet Docs is much more extensive. So, they can compliment one another quite nicely.
Rad Resource: Have you ever had to print a webpage, only to be at the mercy of other non-essential (and sometimes annoying) components, like ads? The Printliminator is a bookmarklet that allows you to remove webpage elements for a “cleaner” print. It simply “installs” as a bookmark within the bookmarks bar of your favorite browser.
This contribution is from the aea365 Daily Tips blog, by and for evaluators, from the American Evaluation Association. Please consider contributing – send a note of interest to aea365@eval.org.
Glad the resources were of use for the both of you!
Printliminator is excellent. Many thanks
Marcus, great resources!
I installed printliminator (installed is too big a word, it was 10 seconds) and am now hooked. It solves a problem I’ve had forever, getting clean prints from sites. Thanks for pointing me in this direction.
