Hello! We are Mishkah Jakoet, Lisa Frantzen, and Christina Bowles, the International & Cross-Cultural Evaluation (ICCE) Topical Interest Group (TIG) leadership team. We’re excited to have a space to reflect on how we’ve been thinking about “Meeting the Moment” in our TIG.
The ICCE TIG is a space for evaluators interested in or working on evaluations in an international or cross-cultural context. Given this broad definition, we have the honor of being the largest TIG, with 496 members (and growing)! While our membership spans numerous countries, sectors, experience levels, and evaluation approaches, we are united in our goal to be better ICCE evaluators. The breadth of our TIG membership encapsulates the value of diversity in the evaluation field; a necessity for thoughtful, impactful, and sustainable approaches. As TIG leadership, we’ve been reflecting on how we can leverage the knowledge base of this group of diverse evaluators to help us meet our goal of continued professional development – so we’re better equipped to meet the moment when that moment arises.
During this unique moment of a shift to virtual spaces, restricted travel, and limited social interaction, the need to build up a space of reflection and knowledge sharing among ICCE colleagues seems more salient than ever. With the decision to hold Evaluation 21 virtually, we have been reflecting on how TIG leadership can step up to Meet the Moment and supplement the loss of the camaraderie and togetherness the annual conferences provide for so many of us.
In order to meet these goals of continued professional development and a space for connection, we’ve been brainstorming new virtual social events for TIG members. We’ve also updated our website and are discussing how we can leverage that tool as a way to build connection amongst the TIG. We’d love your help and input on how we can shift TIG activities during this unique time!
