American Journal of Evaluation Week: AJE and YOU by Rodney Hopson and Laura Peck

Greetings, again, from our Co-Editors-in-Chief, Rodney Hopson and Laura Peck. Now that you have met our committed and accomplished team of Associate and Section Editors, along with an Editorial Board member and frequent reviewer, we are ready for your input and engagement with the journal. In order for us to carry out the vision we stated in our recent opening post in this series, we rely on our informed readership and your contributions to continue to be a premier outlet for the field of evaluation.

Laura Peck and Rodney Hopson

We think that our three year vision, largely informed by the collective work of our AEs and SEs, is an ambitious one. And still, we have hopes for even more initiatives and aspirations for bringing even more innovative ideas for the journal; they include:

  • Growing editorial leadership. Much like our companion journal in the field, New Directions for Evaluation, we think the creation of a junior editorial board is a great way to build on the generation and pipeline of evaluators in the field.
  • Valuing access. Ultimately, we want AJE to be accessible to the world. As one of the official journals of the American Evaluation Association with our international community of practitioners, scholars, and learners, we aspire to be accessible for and relevant to all evaluation scholars and practitioners. In addition to exploring options for Open Access, we also want to be inviting and think creatively about communication and dissemination. If there is a conference or convening where you think we can promote the journal, especially in venues where we are not as common, please let us know. If you are interested in building a podcast or video series, let us know! Any other ideas, we are here to listen and act!
  • Enhancing quality. For AJE to grow as a premier peer-reviewed publication of high-quality scholarly and practitioner-relevant research on the theory, methods, and practice of evaluation, we need submissions that fit that bill! We look forward to considering your work, when fitting, and are committed to ensuring a quality and timely review process that produces publishable work that adds value to the field.
