{"id":14,"date":"2009-12-06T04:42:43","date_gmt":"2009-12-06T09:42:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aea365.org\/blog\/?page_id=4"},"modified":"2026-08-13T14:06:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T18:06:16","slug":"contribution-guidelines","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/aea365.org\/blog\/contribution-guidelines\/","title":{"rendered":"Contribution Guidelines"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;re very excited to learn from you!&nbsp; If you work or study in the evaluation field, have <strong>Hot Tips<\/strong>, <strong>Cool Tricks<\/strong>, <strong>Rad Resources<\/strong> or <strong>Lessons Learned<\/strong> that you would be interested in sharing with your fellow evaluators, and would like to contribute to aea365, please consider submitting a draft contribution. Posts should:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be written in first-person prose.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Include a <strong>simple greeting<\/strong>, and 1-3 sentence <strong>introduction of yourself <\/strong>at the very beginning, along with the general theme of your blog article (but, you don&#8217;t have a lot of space and this isn&#8217;t all about you &#8211; keep it short and focused)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be short &#8211; from <strong>300-600 words<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focus on topics of interest to a wide range of evaluators.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Include an author photo (optional).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NOT use APA or other citation style meant for hardcopy documents; rather, <strong>embed links<\/strong> to online resources directly within the narrative and for resources that are offline, and <strong>use prose to describe<\/strong> such as &#8220;I found Smith and Jones&#8217; recent article on <em>Making Amazing Stuff More Amazing<\/em> in the Fall 2010 issue of the Journal of Great Thoughts to be useful in laying out a step-by-step plan.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Include a<strong> title.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(optional) Include relevant images (chart, photo, data visualization, illustration) <em>for which you have use permission<\/em>, as appropriate. Check photo sites that feature photos in the public domain, or <a href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/\">Creative Commons licensed<\/a>.&nbsp; Be sure to include any necessary attributions for images\/graphics submitted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you use images, include language for their alt text. See <a href=\"https:\/\/accessibility.asu.edu\/articles\/images\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> for guidelines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For each Hot Tip, Cool Trick, Rad Resource, or Lesson Learned, include a header and then a description and how it\u2019s useful. Include active links where appropriate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid self-promotion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please don&#8217;t use fancy fonts or formatting. All of that is changed when your article posts to the site.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please limit posts by the same author to 2 per week so that we can highlight as many voices as possible throughout the year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To get a feel for the breadth and style of contributions, take a look at the archives via the archive link at the top of this page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Share your draft post for consideration by completing our AEA365 <a href=\"https:\/\/aea365.org\/blog\/submit-a-post\/\">submission form<\/a>.
