Susan Kistler on the AEA Annual Conference

I’m Susan Kistler, the American Evaluation Association’s Executive Director, and aea365’s Saturday contributor. Today I have great news to share!

Hot Tip – Evaluation 2011 conference registration is now open: Join over 2500 delegates in Anaheim, California the first week in November for what promises to be an event to remember. The theme this year is Values and Valuing in evaluation Many of the over 600 sessions explore values and valuing, while others examine the breadth and depth of the field.

Hot Tip – Attend a professional development workshop before or after the conference: There are 50 workshops that precede or follow the conference in Anaheim. The majority of attendees register for one or more, to expand their skills via these more in-depth trainings. This year, we have a number of tried-and-true topics (qualitative methods, effective reporting, utilization-focused evaluation), and some great new additions to the lineup (Waawiyeyaa evaluation tool, into to PSPP, propensity score matching).

Hot Tip – Check out the online program: The draft, searchable, online program is now available. Even if you aren’t attending the conference, exploring the program is a great way to identify others working in your area of interest. If you are attending, pre-review of the program is a must-do activity in order to get a handle on which sessions are best for you and to plan your time in Anaheim.

Hot Tip – Make your hotel reservations early: Each year, the hotels with conference blocks sell out in advance of the event. We strive to add new ones as the conference draws closer, but they tend to be farther away. Make your reservations early to ensure better accommodations options.

Check out the conference website at http://www.eval.org/eval2011/default.asp for all of the above!

I’ll keep you updated further as the year progresses. Hope to see you in Anaheim!
