Susan Kistler on Explaining Evaluation

My name is Susan Kistler and I am AEA’s Executive Director. I contribute each Saturday’s post to aea365. Today’s contribution is short but heartfelt.

Lesson learned: We all benefit from time with friends and family, finding that work-life balance. Today, I am back in the town where I grew up celebrating Christmas with my mother, uncle, cousins, children, husband, and friends.

My family still is trying to pin down what exactly evaluators do. Back in March John LaVelle urged us to develop personal statements. I’ve been working on mine and this year I was ready:

I work with people who provide high quality information that informs the decisions that make the world a better place.

And I am so very grateful to be able to say that.

Peace and joy to you and yours today and throughout the holiday season.
