Susan Kistler on Evaluation Job Banks

My name is Susan Kistler. I’m the Executive Director of the American Evaluation Association, and I contribute each Saturday’s post to aea365. It’s spring – time for graduation and new beginnings. Are you searching for positions in evaluation? Here are three places to begin the hunt.

Rad Resource – AEA Career Center: This is your place to start! Search the Job and RFP listings on AEA’s Online Career Center, the largest repository of job listings of interest to evaluators. http://bit.ly/evalopportunities This is also where you can post your resume – resume posting is free for members and nonmembers alike. Over the course of a year, the Career Center is the most highly used portion of the AEA website.

Hot Tip Sign up for Email Notifications of New Job Listings from AEA: Sign up to receive an emailed notice, once each day for which there are new listings, of the new additions added to the AEA Job Bank. http://bit.ly/evaljobfeed

Rad Resource – IOCE Job Bank Listings: The International Organization for Cooperation in Evaluation (IOCE) does not have its own job bank. But it has a list to job banks maintained by evaluation associations around the world. This is a great place to go to if you are looking for positions internationally. http://www.mymande.org/?q=node/81

  1. another great post. what would also be useful i think would be an introduction to navigating the federal job bank. i know some agencies post evaluation jobs under the 0101 social science analyst grade series but i don’t know if that’s standard across the board.

another rad resource would also be methodology specific job banks. for example many evaluation jobs are often posted in survey research job banks.

  2. Thank you Susan, a very helpful pointer as I begin to look for evaluation employment opportunities in and around Pittsburgh, PA.

My husband and I are moving there in August this year, all the way from Melbourne Australia.

I am an anthropologist and I have been working in environmental education evaluation here in Australia, with a broad focus on natural resource management policy and programs, community engagement programs, and a few other community building initiatives – the prospect of seeking new employment in the US is incredibly exciting, though figuring out where to start looking is tricky!
A great help, thank you again.
