Susan Kistler on EvalPartners, Free eLearning in Development Evaluation, and Mapping Evaluation Associations Around the World

My name is Susan Kistler and I am the American Evaluation Association’s Executive Director and aea365’s regular Saturday contributor. A number of aea365 contributors have written before about the International Organization for Cooperation in Evaluation (IOCE). IOCE has partnered with UNICEF and other organizations to form EvalPartners and AEA was pleased to join EvalPartners in 2012.

Lessons Learned: From the invitations to AEA to join EvalPartners – EvalPartners is “an innovative partnership to enhance the capacities of Civil Society Organizations (CSO) to influence policy makers, public opinion and other key stakeholders so that public policies are based on evidence, and incorporate considerations of equity and equality.”

Rad Resource – eLearning Program in Development Evaluation: EvalPartners has brought together UNICEF, Claremont Graduate University, and IOCE to develop a series of three online courses on development evaluation representing content from 33 contributing experts from around the world. This free course series is offered cyclically. The course on Equity-focused evaluation has been completed and will re-open in September of 2013. The course on National Evaluation Capacity Development for Country-led M&E Systems is currently underway. And, the course on Emerging Practices in Development Evaluations currently has open registration and will be held March 25 through May 12.

Rad Resource – Free Book From EvalPartners: Working with a number of collaborators, EvalPartners has recently released Evaluation and Civil Society: Stakeholders’ Perspectives on National Evaluation Capacity Development. This book is available for free download here and is the first volume in a new series to be produced by the initiative. We’ll keep you up to date as EvalPartners releases companion publications.

Rad Resource – Interactive Map of Evaluation Associations Around the World: IOCE has worked to identify the evaluation associations operating in all corners of the globe. Their interactive map introduced in 2012 documents the associations known to them and serves as a valuable resource for identifying a professional home for evaluators around the world.
