Sheila B. Robinson on Getting Involved by Commenting on aea365

Hello! I’m Sheila B. Robinson, aea365’s current Lead Volunteer Curator.

Have you ever noticed that each aea365 post has a footer attached that invites you to comment on the post? Go ahead and look for it at the end of this post. I’ll give you a moment.

Do you see it now?

Hot Tip: Contribute a comment on an aea365 post! Have you read an aea365 post that really makes you think, or one that offers a new insight, or perhaps one that inspires you to ask the author a question? Perhaps you know something about the topic as well and have a bit of information that adds to the post. Why not let the author and aea365 readers know by making a comment, asking a question, or adding some relevant information?

Evaluators are some of the most approachable people I’ve ever met and our aea365 authors often respond to comments on their posts. Even the “big names” in evaluation get involved. Comments allow for rich conversation among authors and readers, and since they are public, everyone is invited to join the discussion.

Hot Tip: Mind your manners!  Mom’s rule applies here: If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. It’s perfectly acceptable to question or disagree with an author’s point of view, of course, as long as it is done with a tone of polite, respectful, professional discourse.

Cool Trick: It’s easy to post a comment! Just click on the word “comments” under the title of the post, and this is what you’ll see when you scroll down past the post:

Comment window

As you can see, you must enter an email address, but don’t worry. This will not appear with your comment, nor will it be shared with anyone. You can click the box below the “submit comment” button if you would like email notification of any follow up comments.

Rad Resources: Take Action! On the aea365 site, look up and to the right. Can you see the “Take Action box” near the top right of your screen? From there, you can subscribe to aea365 or to aea365 Comments via email or RSS.

Get Involved: Find an aea365 post that inspires YOU to make a comment!

Do you have questions, concerns, kudos, or content to extend this aea365 contribution? Please add them in the comments section for this post on the aea365 webpage so that we may enrich our community of practice. Would you like to submit an aea365 Tip? Please send a note of interest to aea365@eval.org . aea365 is sponsored by the American Evaluation Association and provides a Tip-a-Day by and for evaluators.

  1. Then, again, I went back to old emails and I think I was wrong. The difference in layout is not between old AEA tips, but some other daily email I get!

  2. Thanks for the post, Sheila. But, I did NOT see a footer on the email inviting posts! I did, though, notice that the whole layout of the email has changed and the footers are much shorter.

  3. Would be a shame not to comment on this blog 🙂 Honestly though, it really is underused way to connect & share on topics that matter to us. I still remember commenting on a post as a new AEA member several years back and getting a lovely note of thanks from S. Kistler and an offer to write a companion blog to the one to which I’d submitted the comment. Who’d have thought!
